Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Power Gap is operated by Pocket Ninja AB, a company registered in Sweden. Pocket Ninja AB is the data controller for any personal data processed through this website (powergap.app) and the Power Gap iOS app.
2. Data we process
2a. The app — your financial data
All transactions, income, savings goals, fixed expenses, and settings you enter are stored on your device by default. iCloud sync is off unless you turn it on: if you enable iCloud sync in the app's settings, the data is stored in your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and synced between your own devices by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. In either case we never have access to, and never receive, this data.
2b. The app — optional anonymous statistics (opt-in only)
If you enable "Anonymous Data" in the app settings, we collect:
- Anonymous ID — a random UUID generated on your device, not linked to your name, Apple ID, or email
- Monthly gap — your income minus expenses as a single integer
- Savings rate — your savings goal as a percentage of income
- Streak — your consecutive logging days as an integer
- Currency code — e.g. "SEK", "USD"
- Dream categories — broad category codes for what you are saving toward (e.g. travel, tech, home), classified on your device. The names you type never leave your phone.
This data is stored in Supabase (EU region) and used solely to power the in-app "Gap Games" comparison feature. It cannot be traced back to you. You can delete it at any time by turning off "Anonymous Data" and tapping "Delete all data" in the app.
2c. Subscriptions
Subscription transactions are handled by RevenueCat via the Apple App Store. We receive only an anonymous subscriber ID from RevenueCat — we never see your name, email, or payment details. In order to operate subscriber-only features, we also store an anonymous subscription-status record (the RevenueCat anonymous ID, an active/inactive flag, the product identifier, and the expiry date) in our Supabase database (EU region), written by a RevenueCat webhook. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
2d. This website (powergap.app)
This website does not use tracking cookies, analytics tools, or advertising networks. No personal data is collected from visitors to this website.
2e. Alice — AI assistant (opt-in)
Alice runs on your device by default, using Apple Intelligence. In that mode no data leaves your phone. A cloud engine is available, but it is used only if you explicitly select it in the app.
Even with the cloud engine selected, Alice asks you in the chat before reading your finance overview. You can decline, approve for that conversation, or enable "Always allow" in Settings to skip the question.
When you approve, the app sends:
- A summary of your finances — income, fixed costs, spending, savings, goals/dreams with amounts, and your streak
- The chat conversation
- Remembered facts — any facts you allowed Alice to remember
This is sent to our server (Supabase, EU region), which forwards it to Anthropic (Claude API, United States) to generate the answer. We do not store this data on our server; it is processed transiently. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models and retains it only per its API data-retention policy. Anthropic's privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy
Legal basis: your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time by switching Alice to on-device mode in Settings.
2f. Anonymous usage analytics
To understand which features are used and where the app can be improved, the app sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck GmbH (Germany, processed in the EU). These events describe which screens and features are used — for example that an expense was logged or a tab was opened — together with technical context such as app version, device model, operating system, and language. Identifiers are anonymized on your device (salted hashes) before anything is transmitted, and the events never contain amounts, dream names, chat content, or anything you type.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage". TelemetryDeck's privacy policy: telemetrydeck.com/privacy
3. Legal basis (GDPR)
For EU/EEA users:
- Anonymous statistics (2b): Your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you enable "Anonymous Data" in the app. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Subscription management (2c): Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Subscription-status record (2c): Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Alice cloud engine (2e): Your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you select the cloud engine and approve data access in the chat. You can withdraw consent at any time by switching to the on-device engine.
- Usage analytics (2f): Our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding aggregate app usage. The data is anonymized on your device before transmission, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
4. Data transfers
Anonymous statistics (2b) and subscription-status records (2c) are stored in Supabase on servers located in the EU (Frankfurt region). If — and only if — you choose Alice's cloud engine and approve data access, that conversation data is transferred to Anthropic in the United States, protected by appropriate safeguards (Anthropic's data processing addendum, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses). Anonymous usage analytics (2f) are processed by TelemetryDeck GmbH on servers in the EU. No other transfers outside the EU/EEA take place.
5. Data retention
- Anonymous statistics: Retained until you delete them via the app.
- Subscription records: Retained by RevenueCat per their policy.
- Subscription status records: Retained while relevant for operating your subscription.
- Usage analytics: Retained by TelemetryDeck in anonymized, aggregated form.
- Alice cloud conversations: Not stored by us; processed transiently and retained by Anthropic only per its API data-retention policy.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to: access, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, portability, objection, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. To exercise these rights, contact support@powergap.app — we respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY): www.imy.se
7. Children
Power Gap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. The "Last updated" date will always reflect the current version.
